Meta Details Four New Generations of Its MTIA AI Chips

Meta outlined a faster cadence for in-house AI accelerators, from recommendation workloads toward broader generative-AI inference.

Meta outlined four successive generations of the Meta Training and Inference Accelerator, its internally developed AI chip family. The company said the program would expand from ranking and recommendation inference to training and generative-AI workloads.

The announcement showed why custom silicon remains a strategic lever for large AI platforms. Meta's stated goal was not to replace every external accelerator, but to shorten the feedback loop between production workloads and specialized hardware for services used by billions of people.
