OpenAI Launches Prism, an AI-Native Workspace for Scientific Writing

OpenAI introduced Prism, a workspace for scientists to write and collaborate on research with AI assistance. The company said the product was powered by GPT-5.2, available to personal ChatGPT users and intended to reduce friction in day-to-day scientific work.

The release signaled a shift from general-purpose chat toward specialized work surfaces. Rather than treating the model as a standalone interface, Prism bundled writing, collaboration and scientific context into one workflow — an increasingly common pattern as AI vendors target professional domains.
